TreeBike offers a solution to the mobility, congestion and pollution problems experienced by large cities.
However, driving safely in the city involves following a few rules!
1. Maintain your bike.
-
We inflate our tires
-
We check oru brakes
-
We grease our chain
-
We test the headlights
2. Master your bike.
We make sure we know how to drive straight, turn and brake safely.
3. Respect the highway code
And yes! Cyclists, too, are required to respect the highway code. In other words, stop signs, red lights, pedestrian crossings...
And as for motorists, you do NOT use your cell phone while driving and you do NOT drive under the influence of alcohol!
4. Equip yourself well.
We do not forget:
-
Our helmet
-
Our fluorescent vest
These two accessories are not mandatory but we highly recommend them!
5. Use cycle paths where available.
In fact, bicycles have no place on sidewalks.
If there are no cycle paths, ride on the right and we respect safety distances.
6. Watch out for blind spots!
Keep in mind that drivers are not always able to see you.
7. Do not overtake cars on the right.
8. Be extra careful at intersections.
9. Move to the middle of the road before turning.
10. Signal your intentions.
Your arms are there to indicate what you are going to do to other users.
Here are some signals to remember and use for safe travel!
-
Turn right = extend right arm
-
Turn left = extend left arm
-
Reporting a danger on the road (stones, holes, etc.) = Pointing your finger at the ground
-
Stop = Raise your hand above your head
-
Slow down = Extend your arm down with your palm facing the ground
You are now ready for the big cities!
